The Expiry Date.
Please don’t be fooled that the water in plastic bottles is fresh. If you check the expiry date on the bottle it is usually good for 2-3 years. Not sure of your thoughts, but that doesn’t sound right, does it? So the water has been stored in the plastic bottle for 2-3 years, stored in the heat – in the cold, in different warehouses, travelling in the trucks, vans, stored in shops and so on until it reaches you – the consumer. Just to be fair the regulatory authority does not require expiry dates to be added, it is left to the producer's discretion. According to the regulatory authority water should be safe to drink even after a few years.
Let’s think back to a real-life example. If you pour water from a tap or a even a well into a bottle and leave it sitting for even 6 months, never mind 2-3 years, would you drink it? We honestly don’t think so… ‘Why’, you may ask? Because it will be green and smelly and really not appetising at all. So how come water in a shop can be sitting in bottles for 2-3 years and still look and feel fresh?
