Think Expensive Bottled Water is a Good Idea?
It does not make sense (economically and environmentally) to constantly buy bottled water only to throw the bottle away each time. And even if you end up reusing those bottles, they could still potentially be harmful due to the leaching of chemicals into the water. Also, people usually don’t count their small spend here and there. Buying bottled water on a daily basis is very expensive. Small comparison – a half litre of bottled water is almost double the price of petrol! I bet you didn’t expect to hear that! Obviously, if you buy in bulk you get a better deal, but grabbing a 0.5L bottle water in the shop or petrol station on average costs €1.20, but 1L of diesel is €1.25
  • The Irish Times reports that Irish consumers spent € 76.5 million on bottled water in 2014 (1 bottle/day at an average cost of € 1.21 = €441.41 per year on bottled water).
  • We calculated that on average a family of 4 buying bottled water, drinking the minimum recommended amount only (2L for an adult and 1L for a child), would spend €12 a week, that is €60 a month, which is €720 a year and… €7 200 in 10 years… If you are not spending around that amount, more likely you’re NOT drinking enough water.
  • Our customers tell us they used to spend anywhere between €500 – €1,500 per year on bottled water. Paul & his wife NOW saving € 1,200 per year — they were buying glass bottles of water.
Are You Aware How We Are Contributing To The Plastic Issue?

Plastic has an environmental issue as well as a health issue for our body.

ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES. Just because we are not the ones tossing the plastic bottles in the streets and streams doesn’t mean that we’re off the hook. Out of billions of plastic bottles sold each year, less than 10% of them ever make it to recycling. It takes 500 – 1000 years for the plastic to degrade. The numbers are huge and shocking. Also, another fact is that one million seabirds and 100,000 marine mammals are killed annually from plastic in our oceans… SHOCKING! We don’t know if these numbers scare you but they sure do scare us… Even if you’re not a huge environmental advocate we hope this information will get you thinking and if you can make a small change we would invite you to do so and start today.
HEALTH ISSUES. Plastic pollution is not only a problem for the earth, it’s bad for our health too. According to some research ‘Plastic chemicals can be absorbed by the body—93 percent of Americans age six or older test positive for BPA (bisphenol A – a plastic chemical). Some of these compounds found in plastic have been found to alter hormone performance or have other potential human health effects’. Plastic bottles have a chemical called Bisphenol A, known as BPA, the toxic effects of which have been researched and well documented in medical literature. The findings are not appetising. The research shows that this hormone-disrupting chemical causes widespread damage throughout our bodies. ‘It’s an endocrine disruptor and in numerous animal studies has been linked to cancer, infertility, obesity and early puberty, has brain and behavioural impacts’, says Anila Jacob, M.D., M.P.H, a senior scientist at the Environmental Working Group. BPA also plays a role in breast cancer. The findings have shown that BPA is a synthetic form of oestrogen, and doctors know and have confirmed that oestrogen feeds breast cancer. So no wonder that San Francisco has actually banned plastic bottled water since 2014. Slowly but surely this information reaches Europe as well and is spreading.
Everyone Knows That Bottled Water is of Questionable Quality
Marketing Tricks. Marketing has created an image that we get the best quality, fresh water in plastic bottles. Some time ago there was an advertisement on TV showing a man standing by a mountain and catching water into a plastic bottle, floating down from the glaciers. The advert created an image of pure and top quality fresh water. But this most likely is not the case.
The Expiry Date. Please don’t be fooled that the water in plastic bottles is fresh. If you check the expiry date on the bottle it is usually good for 2-3 years. Not sure of your thoughts, but that doesn’t sound right, does it? So the water has been stored in the plastic bottle for 2-3 years, stored in the heat – in the cold, in different warehouses, travelling in the trucks, vans, stored in shops and so on until it reaches you – the consumer. Just to be fair the regulatory authority does not require expiry dates to be added, it is left to the producer's discretion. According to the regulatory authority water should be safe to drink even after a few years.
Let’s think back to a real-life example. If you pour water from a tap or a even a well into a bottle and leave it sitting for even 6 months, never mind 2-3 years, would you drink it? We honestly don’t think so… ‘Why’, you may ask? Because it will be green and smelly and really not appetising at all. So how come water in a shop can be sitting in bottles for 2-3 years and still look and feel fresh?
Water Must Be Pure and free From Harmful Chemicals
Your water is making you SICK when...
  • It is laced with chemicals
  • It contains known carcinogens
  • It is stored in toxic plastic
  • It is robbed of minerals
Water must be alkaline NOT acidic
Drinking Alkaline water, it is said, offers more than one health benefit. It helps slow down the ageing process, regulate pH levels of the body and prevent various chronic diseases. Alkaline water refers to neutralising acid levels in the body, which normal water cannot do.
Must have molecule clusters small enough to absorb
The smaller water cluster will be much more easily absorbed by the body and cells hence our bodies can absorb more of the nutrients at a faster rate. At the same time micro clustered water helps to expel toxins faster, helping us to detoxify our body faster.
